2026 Forestry Summer Student Job Posting
We are currently seeking a motivated Forestry Summer Student to join our team in B.C. for a 4-month term from May to August 2026.
This position will be based in our Strathnaver, B.C. office, which serves as a central hub for our operations. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of forestry operations, including silviculture, planning, and operations. Reporting to your assigned Forestry Supervisor, the Forestry Summer Student role involves extensive fieldwork and the potential for some camp work in remote areas. Key responsibilities may include:
- Providing support with tree planting supervision, along with completing silviculture regen and free to grow surveys
- Carrying out timber cruising checks and data collection for inventory and operational planning
- Supporting road layout and field checks of block roads, boundaries, riparian areas, and related features
- Working alongside Foresters on logging supervision and log quality assessments
- Assisting with forest health monitoring and pest management activities
- Providing administrative support for forestry and woodlands projects
- Preparation of reports and documentation required for compliance and operational planning
Key success factors of the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and technical skills:
- Currently enrolled in a Forestry or Natural Resources Management program at a recognized post-secondary institution
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driving License with a safe driving record
- Demonstrating strong organizational skills and comfort working in a variety of field conditions
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) considered an asset
We offer a competitive monthly wage starting at approximately $5,800, depending on program year and related experience.
