LABOURER (SAWMILL / PLANERMILL)

Dunkley Lumber Ltd. is a respected family-owned company headquartered in Strathnaver, just 75 km south of Prince George, B.C. We operate a modern and efficient dimension sawmill and planermill producing high-quality lumber products sold across North America and in overseas markets. Additionally, Dunkley operates sawmill facilities in Grande Cache, Alberta, and Carrot River, Saskatchewan.

We are currently seeking hardworking, safety-oriented individuals to join our operations team in entry-level labourer positions within our Sawmill and Planermill. These positions provide an excellent opportunity to establish a long-term career in the forest industry, with opportunities to bid into higher-rated positions and advance in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Successful candidates may be assigned to either the Sawmill or Planermill and should be available to work a variety of shifts based on operational requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing physically demanding labour in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment
  • Sorting, stacking, handling, and moving lumber products and materials
  • Operating equipment and basic hand tools safely and efficiently
  • Banding, packaging and preparing lumber products for processing and shipment
  • Maintaining clean, safe and organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards
  • Supporting production crews and assisting with general labour duties as required
  • Following all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding, repetitive work for extended periods
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, reliable and dependable attitude
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Mechanical aptitude and previous industrial, manufacturing, construction or labour experience are considered assets
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work varying shifts based on operational requirements

These positions offer competitive wages, a comprehensive benefits package, a pension plan and opportunities for career advancement, all in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The current hourly wage range for these positions is $36.00 to $36.44, depending on the position, with opportunities for progression through the internal job posting process.
