Kiln Supervisor / Chief Power Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Kiln Supervisor / Chief Power Engineer.  Foothills Forest Products operates a dual-cell 40 MMBTU wood-fired boiler to heat its dry-kilns and operating facilities.  In addition to directing the operation of this energy plant, the successful candidate will provide leadership in several services including kiln management, emergency response & mobile equipment operations, involving a team of 4 or more direct reports. We are looking for an extremely motivated, safety conscious individual to join our team.

The successful candidate will possess the following technical skills and experience:

  • Must possess a valid ABSA 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate.
  • Technical knowledge related to wood-fired thermal-oil energy plants.
  • Experience in drying processes, preferably kiln drying of softwood lumber.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (front-end loader, skid-steer, forklift).
  • Ability to effectively lead a team providing 24/7/365 operations, executing the same duties described above.
  • Substantial industrial experience preferably from the wood products industry.
  • Extremely detail oriented with a quality / precision mindset.
  • Exceptional inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical trouble shooting skills.
  • Must possess the ability to work on several priorities concurrently under time constraints.
  • Very strong commitment to Safety.
