Silviculture Forester/Supervisor

We currently have an opening for a full-time Silviculture Forester/Supervisor to spearhead and oversee the program in BC. The position will be based out of the office at Strathnaver.  In this role, the successful candidate will plan and administer all aspects of reforestation through to free growing for various tenures managed by the company. In addition, Dunkley maintains a robust silviculture program on its Tree Farm Licence, which involves post-free growing treatments and innovation. Other responsibilities will include:

  • contract management and supervision
  • engagement with government, First Nations partners, and 3rd party stakeholders
  • coordination of operations with other internal departments
  • road deactivation/rehabilitation/grass-seeding
  • other post-harvest management and planning aspects.

The ideal candidate will possess the following technical skills and experience:

  • registration or eligibility for registration as a Registered Forest
    Technologist (RFT), Forester in Training (FIT) or Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the Association of BC Forestry Professionals (ABCFP)
  • preference will be given to candidates possessing previous silviculture and operationally related experience in forestry
  • proficient computer skills
  • familiarity with current technology and forestry applications
  • knowledge of current BC forest legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines
  • valid Class 5 Driving Licence and safe driving record
  • outstanding problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities
  • exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Salary is commensurate upon level of experience, competitively in the $75,000 to $95,000 range as a starting wage, with a comprehensive benefits/pension package, and plenty of room to grow within the company.
