Woodlands Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Woodlands Manager to lead our forestry department. This pivotal role will be based in Carrot River, Saskatchewan, overseeing all aspects of forestry operations, including planning, implementation, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Fibre & Sustainability for all three provinces, the Woodlands Manager will play a critical role in managing budgets, overseeing contracts, maintaining licenses and permits, fostering relations with First Nations groups, and ensuring stewardship planning to meet silvicultural obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and managing budgets
  • Supervising ongoing contracts
  • Ensuring compliance with licenses and permits
  • Cultivating positive relationships with First Nations communities through information sharing and coordinated planning
  • Developing implementing stewardship plans to meet silvicultural obligations Supervising logging and road building contractors

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and technical skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of operations and forestry planning experience
  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT)
  • Working knowledge of provincial harvesting systems, road construction and Annual Allowable Cut (AAC)
  • Familiarity with Saskatchewan regulatory requirements
  • Positive attitude and strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer kills, including, Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Physical fitness to undertake field visits, including walking in steep, dense woods as required
  • Experience with Government digital submission sites, Excel, and Outlook
